SPIRITUAL PERSPECTIVE

Jubilee takes it name from the Old Testament story in Leviticus 25. Here we find four aspects/dimensions of the year of Jubilee, which we encounter in our life:

all debts are forgiven;
all indentured servants are freed;
the land has sacred rest; and
everybody has a chance to go home.

The spiritual implications and applications of these perspectives are obvious and certainly can be applied to daily life. These themes are the foundation of the Jubilee Program.

We see ourselves as part of the spiritual renewal of our society, particularly as it is expressed and lived out in emerging Christianity as described by writers like Marcus Borg, Cynthia Bourgeault or Phyllis Tickle. As an interfaith program, Jubilee welcomes people of all faith traditions as well as unaffiliated seekers. Whatever our tradition or background, we live in an interspiritual age.
