PARTNERSHIPS

In 2009 we entered into a partnership with the Faculty of Theology of the University of Winnipeg, and in 2010 with Naramata Centre of the United Church of Canada. We are confident that these partnerships will be mutually beneficial as the years go on.

Naramata Centre

Naramata Centre of the United Church of Canada () is located in the village of Naramata in the beautiful Okanagan Valley of British Columbia, about a five-hour drive from Vancouver.

Naramata Centre, with which many of the staff have longstanding and active associations, is a highly creative and visionary centre of continuing education. From our initial conversations, we have come to the shared hope that space will develop for the involvement of Jubilee staff and participants in some of the existing programs of the Centre, and that we can work together in joint planning for new programs in spirituality and creativity.

The first concrete expression of this partnership is that we have relocated most of our residencies to Naramata Centre. We acknowledge that the cost of room and board there will be greater than at previous residency locations. However, we believe the increase is justified because of the many advantages to us of partnership with Naramata Centre. We have also established a bursary fund to assist potential participants with the cost of tuition—be sure to ask us about this if you need to.

Faculty of Theology, The University of Winnipeg

Our other partnership is with the Faculty of Theology (an ecumenical and interfaith faculty) of the University of Winnipeg (theology.uwinnipeg.ca). This means, that as Prairie Jubilee before us, we have simultaneously been accepted into membership in the Winnipeg Theological Co-operative, a consortium of more than a dozen programs, credit and non-credit, in Manitoba, Ontario and British Columbia. This is very good news! Among other things, it means that our Phase 2 participants can now receive income tax receipts for a portion of their tuition fees as well as academic credit towards a master’s degree; and that we can now begin to arrange for tax-receiptable donations to the program to be made through the University of Winnipeg Foundation, which will also be available for bursaries.
